The club builds relationships, increases community engagement, shows students skills beyond the classroom and helps create an impactful support system. This community gives students a sense of belonging and opportunities for personal growth.
Connecting with people that have diverse interests through a passion for fishing is the goal of Champion Bass club.
“You just get to meet people from different backgrounds and share common interests with people you may not have known before,” junior Ethan Jensen said.
Even though these students have other passions and interests, this club brings them all together, forming their own community.
“Being out on the water with someone, you can bond through fishing and you can connect a lot better through that,” junior Truitt Tucker said.
The bond between the group of people in the Champion Bass Club is a type of connection that students get outside of school.
“It creates a different friend group,” Jensen said.
Not only do friendships form in the Bass Club community, but their volunteer work helps the community. The club contributes to a bunch of different services such as building bunks for people in need and building houses for veterans. “It makes me feel like I’m part of the community because I’m helping out instead of sitting at home,” junior Jonathan Hulce said.
“It helps us serve other people and serves a big thing we like to do; and if you do it with your friends, It makes It more enjoyable and can build friendships off of that,” Tucker said.
“You get to meet people that aren’t already in your friend group,” Tucker said.
