Confetti floats around the screen of the computer with a joyous student staring in awe, realizing they just passed their AP exam. Exam season is approaching, with AP tests starting as soon as May 5. With the correct studying techniques and persistence, this fate awaits every student taking an AP exam this early May.
“I’ve passed seven AP classes, and I always review the course and exam description from the College Board early on, that way I can succeed ahead of time,” senior Remy Ramirez said.
Ramirez uses a variety of techniques and tools to prepare for the exam, including watching videos and making flashcards.
“I love using Knowt, Fiveable, Youtube and Princeton Review. I also make Quizlet flashcards…From my experience, practice and active studying are the most effective techniques, and I have utilized practice tests and questions,” Ramirez said.
Sophomore Samuel Haas has taken and successfully passed multiple AP exams, and he believes that in order to do well, preparation is key.
“I’ve passed AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Chemistry…You really have to study before the exams, because it matters when you put in the effort. I like using the AP resources on AP Classroom and also any review guides your teacher gives you,” Haas said
During the exam, it is important to remain calm and not get too anxious.
“Don’t stress yourself out too much while taking the exam; if you stress too much that could lead to you failing, but I think everyone can pass their AP exams if you work hard,” Haas said.
